St. Clement 1997 Oroppas, Napa Valley, CA, 2867 St. Helena Hiwy., North St. Helena, CA, 94574 - 800-331-8266 www.stclement.com

Deep Ruby red colors with, ripe fruit front aromas dominating the nose with a subtle vanillin accent. A spicy supple entry leads to a velvety silky full-bodied mouthfeel with important character. A rounded voluptuous finish, drink it now, but it will be heavenly if held. Elegance in the bottle and it looks even better in the glass. The St. Clement Tasting Room is a Victorian building that sits on the western side of the Napa Valley north of St. Helena. This winery reflects the charm, romance and wonder of Historical Napa Valley. Varietal blend: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc. Released July 1999. Retail: $40

Soft palate with layers of crisp character together with aromas of ripe melon, lemon and gooseberry. Added complexity from Malolactic fermentation leads to pleasant acidity and a versatile yet likable drinking style with an extended finish. We had it with grilled fish...mmm good. This Sauvignon Blanc would pleasantly surprise a "wine snob." Retail:
$17.50

SPRING 2000 - The F&B International Tasting Panel headed by Michael Walsh, Nick Zielke, and Tom Luther, invite guest chefs, wine and hospitality professionals to taste, review and offer suggestions in food pairing. This issue we have featured members of Rhône Rangers, a non profit group formally organized in 1997, dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding of traditional Rhône Grape varieties grown in America. Almost every grape growing area in California is represented, with new members from Idaho, Washington, Oregon & Virginia. Syrah continues to dominate the label designated Varietal. Viognier is the dominant white varietal. The F&B International Tasting Panel has committed to the herculean task of tasting every Rhône varietal wine. Wineries are invited to submit wines to our tasting panel. (This is a first of a two part series on Rhône Style wines.)
