Hemp Plus Granola
Hemp is back and in high style! Well, sort of...

Nature's Path debuts THC-free industrial hemp seeds in new boxed granola

(Delta, British Columbia - March 10, 2000)
Nature's Path Foods' newest Hemp Plus Organic Granola is sure to raise some eyebrows. But never fear, the THC-free hemp blend combines traditional ingredients with nutrient-rich hemp seeds to create a delicious new flavor that's really in style, but won't leave your feeling "stoned." There's a lot more to Hemp Plus Granola than its fashionable status.

In fact, hemp seeds, which contain approximately 25 percent protein, are higher in fiber and certain vitamins and minerals than soybeans. David Neuman, Nature's Path Vice President of Sales and Marketing, is excited about the re-introduction of the controversial hemp plant, a nutraceutical food up until the 1890s when hemp use was constricted due to government regulations.

"The retailers LOVE it because it is 'trendy,' healthy, organic and tastes great," Neuman noted. "Hemp has so many benefits. Since we have used flax seeds and flax meal in our cereals, waffles and Manna breads for so many years, it was a natural for us to work with hemp seeds."

The great taste and nutritional value of HempPlus Granola results from the perfect combination of organic oats, cane juice, canola oil, rice crisps, flax seeds and hemp seeds. All ingredients are third-party certified organic, which also means grown and processed without genetically engineered ingredients (also known as GMOs). Nature's Path celebrated the launch of HempPlus Granola simultaneously with the introduction of its new windowed boxes. The new packaging allows customers to view the natural goodness of all four new varieties: HempPlus, SoyPlus, Ginger Zing and Heritage Raspberry. Founded in 1988 by Arran Stephens, Nature's Path is North America's best selling maker of third-party certified organic and all-natural breakfast foods marketed under the name Nature's Path and LifeStream, respectively. The company owns and operates Quality Assurance International certified processing facilities in Delta, B.C. and Blaine, Washington. www.naturespath.com
