Jean Georges Vongerichten
A native of Strasbourg in France, Jean Georges is
acclaimed for his great style and innovative interpretation of classic
French cuisine. He has been a central figure on the New York culinary
scene, since his arrival in 1986, when at the age of 29, he was awarded
four stars by The New York Times for his work at the Drake Swissôtel. The
opening of his east-side Manhattan bistro Jo Jo marked the
beginning of an illustrious career as a major restaurateur. Vong followed, an elegant showcase for
Vongerichten's own special fusion of French and Vietnamese cuisines. In
addition to authoring two cookbooks, he holds a total of 12 stars from The
New York Times for his four Manhattan venues. Recent ventures have
included the opening of Prime, a serious steak house in the Bellagio Hotel
in Las Vegas, and the celebrated Jean-Georges in
Manhattan.
