Round Table for
Women in Foodservice Annual Awards By
Ellen Walsh
The Bay Area Women of Distinction Awards honors
women in Northern California who exemplify standards of excellence in the
foodservice industry, to which all professional women can aspire. April
2000 was the month to remember as these awards were given.

RWF Member . Karen Aguila-Perceval, Starbucks
The RWF also honors a Company of Distinction. This award is
presented to a Northern California company who is proactive in recruiting,
mentoring and promoting women at all levels of the organization. This
year's award went to Otis Spunkmeyer, and John Schiave, CEO was on hand to
accept the award. We applaud that award, because we all know how active
employee and head of business development Jeannie Mosgrove is in this
organization.
Deanna Fenton, this year's Women of Distinction chair, and last
year's chapter president, put together a spectacular evening at
Round Hill Country Club in Alamo. Spirits were high, as Kristi Royse of
KLR & Associates opened up with a short speech on how to retain
employees. Drinks were flowing, and as Bill Barulich from BiRite
Foodservice got up to give an introductory speech for employee and award
recipient Phyllis Sarrat, he had the audience in stitches as he made joke
after joke on how NOT to retain employees. But that was not the end of the
good times. Judie Vacchina, winner of this year's Small Business
category, sat with her head buried in her hands as Sue Hoover, business associate of Judie's at Quiznos Corporation out of Denver, introduced her, and recounted an evening in Chicago she |
